WHAT IS CEFMA?

Cleveland, Ohio -- The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) has announced the formation of the Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association (CEFMA), effective immediately.

"NACDA is pleased to add the Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association to our umbrella of associations," stated NACDA President Kevin White, director of athletics at the University of Notre Dame. "To be sure, the addition of CEFMA reiterates the basic component of NACDA's mission by providing educational opportunities and serving as a vehicle for networking, the exchange of information and advocacy on behalf of the profession."

CEFMA is the first professional collegiate association solely dedicated to the needs of collegiate level event and facility professionals and the challenges that exist within the scope of their responsibilities. CEFMA will seek to promote the growth, leadership, integrity and success of administrators and professional staff in collegiate athletics. Services provided by NACDA are membership functions including member solicitation and dues payments, meeting planning and general administrative duties.

"Collegiate facility and event managers have never had one common place for educational programs, professional development, networking and best practices," said NACDA Executive Director Mike Cleary. "We are glad that NACDA can fill a void in our industry and provide opportunities to these professionals."

"I am very excited about the future of our organization. The demands and expectations on today's event and facility managers have continued to expand over the years," stated CEFMA President Steve Adams, assistant athletics director - internal operations at Wake Forest University. "With the guidance and support of NACDA, we are committed to providing a national platform for collegiate event and facility managers to develop professionally, share ideas and network. Our goal is to promote the growth and leadership of the many professionals within the event and facility management community and surpass these expectations."

Joining Adams as officers for 2008-09 are Bridget Belgiovine, director of athletics/chair physical education and recreation, Wellesley College, 1st vice president; Andrea Williams, associate commissioner, Big Ten Conference, 2nd vice president; and Mike Bujol, associate athletics director, University of New Orleans, 3rd vice president.
